Hello again! Today we are learning about the rewards of wisdom. Do you remember what wisdom is? Wisdom is knowing what God wants you to know and then making good choices.

The Bible says when we have wisdom and when we make wise choices, that there will be rewards. A reward is like a prize. There will be GOOD things when we make good choices.

Some of the rewards Proverbs talks about are:

1:33 “but whoever listens to me will live in safety
    and be at ease, without fear of harm.”

2:7-8 “He holds success in store for the upright,
    he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
  for he guards the course of the just
    and protects the way of his faithful ones.”

That means when we make good choices that obey God, we stay safe. If we don’t make good choices, we could do something dangerous.

**older kids you can talk about how God sometimes has us do “unsafe” things, but that our ETERNAL safety is with Him and that our real safety is in honoring God.**

2:21-22 “For the upright will live in the land,
    and the blameless will remain in it;
22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land,
    and the unfaithful will be torn from it.”

Do you remember the land God promised His people? When they made wise choices and obeyed God, they got to live in that special place…but when they disobeyed Him, they had to leave and it was very sad. God has a special place for us to be too and when we obey Him and make good choices, He sets us right where we need to be.

3:24-26 “When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
    when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
25 Have no fear of sudden disaster
    or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
26 for the Lord will be at your side
    and will keep your foot from being snared.”

Sometimes when you make a bad choice, you can feel bad about it…so bad you can’t sleep. Or you might be worried about the consequences…but when we make wise choices, we can have a good night’s sleep because we know we did the right thing.

 

We don’t have to worry when we make wise choices, because we know God’s way is the BEST way. If we learn all God wants us to know and we obey Him, then we can know we are making the BEST choices and that leads to life and peace.
